An Interview with Karina Vazhitova: Luxury Career Adivsor
In a world where excellence meets emotion, luxury remains one of the few industries where artistry, precision, and human connection coexist in perfect harmony. At the heart of this refined ecosystem stand the professionals who embody its essence — people who don’t just sell products, but craft experiences and emotions that endure. In this exclusive interview, we explore luxury career advice by Karina Vazhitova, a leading consultant helping professionals thrive in the world of luxury.
To explore what it means to build a career in luxury today, we spoke with Karina Vazhitova, a Luxury Career Advisor and founder of Divine Career, whose global perspective and deep understanding of human potential have guided countless professionals into meaningful paths across the luxury sector.

Career Path
How did you start your career in the luxury industry?
My journey began in international recruitment, where I worked closely with various global companies and industry professionals. What fascinated me most was how luxury brands created emotion and meaning through people. I realized that every great client experience begins with a great team, and that the industry’s real magic happens behind the scenes — in the culture, values, and people who bring a brand’s story to life.
Over the years, I had the opportunity to collaborate with companies and talents across Europe, the Middle East, America, and Asia. That exposure taught me how universal yet nuanced the concept of “luxury” really is — a blend of artistry, precision, and human connection. It made me want to help others enter this world with the same sense of purpose and awareness.
“Every great client experience begins with a great team — the real magic of luxury happens behind the scenes.”
What led you to become a consultant?
After years in recruitment, I noticed a recurring gap: so many talented individuals had the skill, passion, and potential for luxury, yet struggled to position themselves effectively. Their value wasn’t being communicated in a way that resonated with luxury employers — and that was a barrier I knew I could help remove.
Becoming a career advisor was my way of bringing together strategy, storytelling, and empathy. It allowed me to guide people not only toward the right opportunities, but also toward a deeper understanding of who they are professionally. Today, through Divine Career, I focus on helping talents align their identity, mindset, and presence with the evolving world of luxury.
Perspective on the Industry
What trends do you currently see in the luxury sector?
Luxury is becoming increasingly human. We’re witnessing a shift from aspiration to awareness, where clients have beliefs and seek meaning. Sustainability, inclusivity, personalization, and emotional connection are now at the center of strategy.
Digital innovation continues to reshape the industry, yet the true evolution lies in how brands use technology to deepen the human experience, not replace it. Heritage houses are collaborating with new creative voices, blending tradition with modern cultural relevance. It’s a powerful moment of transformation — one where timeless values are being redefined for a conscious generation.
What challenges do luxury brands face today in terms of talent and human resources?
Talent management has become one of the most pressing challenges for luxury brands. The new generation of professionals is deeply value-driven — they seek purpose, growth, and belonging. This requires brands to evolve their leadership styles and internal cultures to be more inclusive, transparent, and emotionally intelligent.
There’s also a growing need for hybrid talent — professionals who combine creativity with analytical thinking, and emotional intelligence with digital fluency. In many ways, human resources have become the new brand strategy, because the internal experience ultimately shapes the external one.
“Human resources are the new brand strategy — because the internal experience shapes the external one.”
What differences do you observe between recruitment processes in Europe and other regions?
In Europe, there’s a strong reverence for tradition, education, and craftsmanship — heritage and consistency remain essential. In contrast, regions such as the Middle East and Asia tend to move faster and embrace innovation more readily, prioritizing entrepreneurial spirit and agility.
The most successful professionals are those who bridge both mindsets: those who respect legacy but think forward. Luxury today is global, and so is the talent that thrives within it — global in perspective, empathy, and curiosity.
Which skills will be essential for the future of luxury careers?
Curiosity, adaptability, and emotional intelligence. Technical skills evolve with technology, but human insight remains timeless.
Digital fluency, cross-cultural awareness, and storytelling are becoming vital as brands merge heritage with innovation. Those who can balance data with intuition — who interpret analytics without losing sensitivity — will define the next generation of luxury leadership.
“Luxury is not about scale, it’s about experience.”
Professional Advice
What would you recommend to someone starting a career in the luxury industry?
Start with genuine curiosity and humility. Luxury is built on excellence — and excellence takes time. Every internship, every boutique experience, every backstage moment can teach you something about precision, people, and beauty.
Learn the language of the industry; understand not only the products, but the philosophies behind them. Be observant, study the maisons, their founders, and their codes. Above all, be authentic. The most compelling professionals are those who bring individuality to the table rather than imitating the image of luxury.
“The most compelling professionals are those who bring their individuality to the table.”
Are there common mistakes candidates make when applying for positions in this industry?
Yes. One of the most common mistakes is trying to appear overly “professional” or generic. Many candidates overuse formal phrasing or submit impersonal CVs. Luxury brands value elegance, but they also value sincerity. It’s better to be memorable through genuine interest.
Another mistake is focusing solely on big brand names rather than fit. The right house is not always the most famous one — it’s the one where you can grow, contribute meaningfully, and stay inspired long-term.
Personal Vision
What does working in luxury mean to you, beyond the products?
For me, luxury is an emotion — a moment of stillness, beauty, and meaning in a world that moves too fast. Working in luxury means working with intention, creating experiences that remind people of what is timeless and human.
Beyond products, it’s about storytelling, connection, and culture. It’s about doing fewer things, but doing them beautifully.
What inspires you daily in your role as a consultant?
Transformation. Seeing someone go from uncertainty to confidence, from questioning their place in the industry to realizing they belong, is incredibly fulfilling. Every client has a unique story, and helping them articulate that story in a way that resonates with luxury brands is my favorite part of the process.
“Luxury, at its core, is about emotion — the ability to make someone feel something.”
If you could give one piece of advice to brands seeking to attract the best talent, what would it be?
Build a culture that inspires, not just impresses. The best talents today don’t simply choose a company — they choose values, leadership, and belonging. Luxury brands have mastered storytelling for clients; now they must master storytelling for employees.
Show them why their work matters, how their growth fits into the larger vision, and create an environment where passion and precision coexist. When people feel seen, they create excellence naturally.
“Build a culture that inspires, not just impresses.”
Karina’s vision for the future of luxury is one defined by awareness, authenticity, and emotion. In an industry often associated with perfection, she reminds us that its real beauty lies in its humanity — in the people who give meaning to every design, every gesture, and every experience.
Her words echo a quiet truth that resonates far beyond the industry itself:
Luxury, at its finest, is not what we see, but what we feel.
